Head/Sous Chef

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Must be able to communicate in English and Bengali.
  • Read, count and write to complete all documentation.
  • Operate and use all equipment necessary for store operation.
  • Must be able to assess, anticipate and meet guests’ needs and respond quickly without losing focus ensuring guests‘ smooth dining experience.
  • Prepare tables for meals, including the complete set up of linens, silverware and glassware.
  • Greet guests in a professional manner and provide information about the food and beverage menus, how menu items are prepared, the ingredients used and the different cooking methods.
  • Check food and beverages for quality and presentation before serving to guest.
  • Serve food and beverage to guests and receive guest payments and process transactions.
  • Clear and clean tables promptly according to proper sanitation standards.
  • Complete side duties as required including, polishing silverware, restaurant set up, and filling condiments.
  • Should be able to perform light food preparation duties including bread, salad preparation, appetizers and desert presentation
  • Must recognize a problem when it arises and be able to resolve it appropriately by using good judgment, tact and initiative according to company policy and procedure.
  • Work successfully as part of a team, while under pressure.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by your Manager.
  • Assists in the opening and/or closing of the café, sales figures, stock and waste management.

Educational Requirements

  • Diploma in hotel/restaurant management is desirable. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a waiter in a high volume café/restaurant.

  • Honors customers by providing quick, friendly and personal service.

  • Perform any other duties as directed by your Manager
  • Assists in the opening and/or closing of the café.
  • Assist with management of stock, wastage and sales figures.
